Bridges of Madison County, The

THIS TITLE IS LICENSED BY MUSIC THEATRE INTERNATIONAL (MTI).

Based on the best-selling novel and developed by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown and Pulitzer Prize winner Marsha Norman, The Bridges of Madison County explores themes of desire and choice in America's heartland. It won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Score and Orchestrations, presenting a poignant narrative about the journeys and decisions we face.

Francesca Johnson, an Italian woman who married an American soldier to escape wartime Italy, anticipates four days alone on her Iowa farm while her family attends the 1965 State Fair. However, the arrival of National Geographic photographer Robert Kincaid, seeking directions, could significantly change the trajectory of her life during this brief period.

The Bridges of Madison County features a compelling narrative supported by a strong musical score. The lead roles of Francesca and Robert offer significant opportunities for actors, while the ensemble cast presents diverse characters with distinct storylines, each receiving ample stage presence.
