Evita depicts Eva Peron's ascent to prominence in Argentina from 1934 to 1952. This Tony-winning musical chronicles her transformation from an impoverished illegitimate child to a renowned actress and, ultimately, the influential wife of President Juan Peron, before her death from cancer at age 33.

Evita’s life events unfold through song, narrated by Che. Notable pieces from Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical include “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” “Oh What a Circus,” “Buenos Aires,” and “Another Suitcase in Another Hall.”

Evita, featuring prominent roles and a large ensemble, showcases one of Lloyd Webber’s most popular scores that merges Latin, jazz, pop, and traditional elements. It is suitable for college, community, and professional theaters. Educators should assess the appropriateness of adult themes, particularly in Act One’s “Goodnight and Thank You.”
