Adapted from John Updike’s novel and the 1987 film, this musical by John Dempsey and Dana P. Rowe centers on three New England witches who summon a charismatic lover. The score includes notable numbers such as “Make Him Mine,” “Dirty Laundry,” “Dance With the Devil,” and “I Wish I May.”

Alexandra (Alex), Sukie, and Jane reside in a small town controlled by Felicia Gabriel and seek excitement beyond their routine lives. Desiring “all manner of man in one man,” they inadvertently summon Darryl Van Horne, a devilish figure. As Van Horne seduces them, the women begin to discover and develop their supernatural abilities within this comedic framework.

The Witches of Eastwick combines elements of comedy, fantasy, and drama, making it suitable for amateur theatre companies interested in presenting strong female roles alongside extensive ensemble participation.
