Working (Localized)

Based on Studs Terkel's acclaimed book, Working provides an insightful portrayal of various American workers, including schoolteachers, phone operators, waitresses, millworkers, masons, and housewives. Nominated for six Tony Awards, the updated version includes new songs by Tony Award-winner Lin-Manuel Miranda alongside compositions from Stephen Schwartz, Craig Carnelia, James Taylor, and Micki Grant.

This localized version of Working allows theatres to incorporate community worker interviews into their production. The included Director's Script and Production Guide indicate where to insert these interviews, as well as two optional songs and transitions. While many professions are updated, the show maintains its relevance to contemporary America and underscores the personal stories behind each job.

With minimal set and orchestra demands, universal themes, and a varied ensemble cast of different sizes, Working is among the most accessible, pertinent, and substantial musicals ever produced.

(The localized version of this show allows you to perform the songs in any order. By default both programming and tracks will come in the original show order. Customers can very easily rearrange the songs in whichever order they have chosen.)
